The Story

I wanted a speedy bike, so I put a 1.8 kW motor on an abandoned bike I found. The motor was bought on Amazon for $130 (including the ESC), and mounted to my bike using an aluminum frame I designed.

Design and Analysis

Transmission

Designed with a 13:1 transmission.
Adjustable chain tension with a threaded rod.

Electrical

E-bike battery mounted with a 3D-printed mount.
Switches on brakes act as safety stops in case of faulty throttle input.

Structure

Laser-cut and bent sheet metal frame.
